Au Revoir Simone on Dinner with the Band

So yeah, by complete accident I caught Dinner with the Band on IFC(HD), and the guest band was the synth-pop trio of angels Au Revoir Simone. That's kind of crazy (but not). The show's filmed in NYC/Bklyn I guess, and they're from NYC/Bklyn, and they are apparently moderately huge for an indie band, touring the worls several times over (crazy), so it kind of makes sense. Anyway, check IFC(HD) to see if you can find it, or it's available on iTunes for 1.99, so if you like them you might find this fun to watch. If you are still out of the loop, um, check them out. They've a few releases plus remix albums out at this point. I'd suggest doing us a solid and checking out their track "Back in Time" on Komptrax, our enlightening indie pop/rock comp of 2007. It's not exclusive (it was on their first ep Verses of Comfort, Assurance, and Salvation) but it's great, and Komptrax is collection of similarly special stuff. Anyway, watch that show and buy some tracks.

So one night recently whilst a little tipsy, Rod & Wilynda (Collette Carter) covered a Mountain Goats song (I'd never heard it before), and the results is some good stuff. They posted it to SoundCloud so that means you can download it for free. If you're saavy and can click on the "Collette Carter" band link on that page it will show you two other newish songs from CC that you can download. So dig in and enjoy.

Collette Carter wrote a track about Philly and you can listen to it on YouTube here. I will try to get an mp3 version for download soon but check it out on YouTube for now. Also while on YouTube check out their other track "Dance" up there here. Album coming this year, and shows likely also (wooh!).

SHOP IS GETTIN' WORKED OUT

Ok, so it has been too long since we had this new version of the site up without an easy way for everyone to just buy some cds via the shop. Well today I got the ball rolling. First officially easily re-available on cd is Vibon 2: Blip-Pop Click (tbtmo26), a compilation that will go down as a classic. If you don't already have it you should consider getting it on cd now. Click the pic to the left for tracklist and reviews and all that. Click the shop link at the top header to check out the progress on that.

TRANSIENT- Moments In Slow Motion (tbtmo32) in PLUS

Transient's 2005 release Moments In Slow Motion has been re-upped into the PLUS section (25$ for all of it!) on this new site, and as is usually the case, there's a free mp3 from it- "This Situation (Original Edit)". If you don't have PLUS access we continue to recommend it as it grows, and if you do have it, make the most of it. The change-over to the new site didn't exactly go as smooth as planned. That whole thing about becoming a user on the site and then commenting... that will have to wait a little bit. You can still comment at this time, there is just no "membership", per se, and that is part of what we were building our plans for the PLUS section on, so all of that is an asap sort of thing, but asap might be not so asap. We are basically kind of limited by the new site setup (though it looks great!), so we're trying to figure out clever workarounds to get what we need going. So yeah, in the meantime we will probably pile on some free mp3s or something, work out some of the recent releases pages, all that stuff, and all the while we will be considering the "membership" option and the PLUS section that can be built upon it. Hold tight I said!
